Related Activities for Empty Booking Widget Calendars

Display Related Activities in the Booking Widget when the selected month has no availability.

The Related Activities for Booking Widget's Empty Calendar feature allows you to suggest other activities when the selected activity has no availability in the month a customer is viewing.

If the selected month has no availability, the Booking Widget can suggest alternative activities for customers to explore.

This feature is an extension of the Related Activities feature.

How it works

When a customer navigates the calendar in the Booking Widget, the system checks if the selected month contains any availability.

If no availability exists, the widget displays:

  • A custom label

  • Alternative activity cards

When the customer clicks one of these activities, the booking widget:

  • switches to that activity

  • opens the same month in the calendar

Example use case

Seasonal activities.

Example:

Activity Season
Winter Paragliding November – March
Summer Paragliding April – October

If a customer views Winter Paragliding and navigates to May, the widget will suggest Summer Paragliding.

Configuration

To configure Related Activities for Empty Booking Widget Calendars, you must select the activities you want to suggest and define a custom label that will appear above them.

Follow these steps:

1. Open the activity you want to configure

Go to your Activities section and open the activity you want to edit.

2. Scroll to Advanced Options

Scroll down the activity configuration page until you reach the Advanced Options section.

3. Locate the Related Activities section

Inside Advanced Options, find the Related Activities section.

4. Click Select Activities button

5. Search and select the activities

A pop-up window will appear.

In the search field, scroll or type the name of the activity you want to add as a related activity.

You can select as many activities as you want.

6. Close the pop-up window

Once you have selected the activities, close the pop-up window.

You will now see the selected activities displayed in a list in the Related Activities section.

You can drag and drop the activities to change the order in which they appear.

7. Add a custom label

In the Label (for empty calendar) field, you can write the message that will appear above the related activities when the calendar is empty.

⚠️If you can not find this field in your account, you probably need to have this feature enabled. Please reach out to support or your AM for more info.

The default label is:

  • You might also like

but you could change it to anything you want. Keep in mind, it should motivate your user to click on the activity to stay in the booking flow. Something like "....." would be good. Here are some examples:

  • Looking for activities available in this month? Look here...

  • This activity is not available in this month. Try these instead...

8. Save the activity

Click Save to apply your changes.

The Related Activities for Booking Widget's Empty Calendar will now appear in the Booking Widget when the selected month has no availability.

Important

If you want two activities to suggest each other, you must configure the relation in both activities.
